“Many times what we perceive as an error or failure is actually a gift. And eventually we find that lessons learned from that discouraging experience prove to be of great worth.”
― Richelle E. Goodrich, Smile Anyway: Quotes, Verse, & Grumblings for Every Day of the Year
My name is Kamilah and as long as I have been able to walk, I've had the peculiar proclivity for helping people understand things. In middle school, I aided peers with their work and teachers with organizing activities for class. In middle school, it evolved to helping students study. By the end of my freshman year in college, I had been highly recommended for a founding position in the renovated Writing Center on our campus. Skip forward five years and I've amassed a student base of over 40 individuals ranging from adult learners to middle school students, all of whom have grown in confidence and ability more than they ever believed that they could.
I am a whole-hearted supporter of well rounded education. I tell all of my students that, there is no such thing as "I can't" as long as they are willing to work for their goals. My only job is to help those individuals talented and brave enough to do so.
I founded Live, Laugh, Learn Something because I was tired of meeting brilliant students who had been told or treated like they could not handle a great education. Schools that fail to challenge, support or encourage their students diminish so many brilliant and talented learners; it was depressing, to say the least. As a private tutor, I seek to augment the education being provided with the comfort, support, and extra resources that growing minds deserve.
